The coverage has been expanded and the accuracy of location information has been improved.
I am Noriyasu Obushi, a project researcher at the Information Somatics Laboratory of RCAST, the University of Tokyo.
My thoughts are always with people who were affected by this disaster.
The coverage of the street-level imagery released in February 2024 was limited due to the road conditions at that time. In addition, the location information was inaccurate, with errors up to several meters. We have improved the accuracy of the location information by using QZSS (MICHIBIKI) in addition to GNSS such as GPS, and photographed street-level imagery over a wider area in Suzu City in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan from August 15 to August 19. Today, we announce that the some of those images are now available on Google Street View. Also we are planning to upload them to Mapillary as well by the end of September 2024. The uploaded imagery on Mapillary will be licensed under CC-BY-SA 4.0 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the service.
