身体動作を再現可能なロボットによるテレイグジスタンスシステムは,物理的インタラクション,没入感,存在感をともなう一方で,導入や入手のしやすさと運用保守の簡便さ,そして何よりユーザにとっての日常的な利用のしやすさに課題がある.
我々は,なるべく簡便で長時間運用可能な機材構成でありながら遠隔接続者の没入感と現場での存在感を保つ「ミニマル・テレイグジスタンス」の実現を目指し,一部屋の中に複数設置された全天周カメラの映像を遠隔接続者に伝送でき,かつ音声と全周照明により接続者の存在感を提示可能なシステムを開発している.これにより,高い没入感とカメラの設置位置間で自分の身体が素早く移動するような自在感を実現する.
本稿では,本システムを実際に我々の研究室内に設置し,遠隔地および現地の両者が試用する様子を記録したデータから,本システムがもたらす特有な経験と現象を明らかにする.さらに得られた利点や課題から,本システムそのものの今後の改善可能性を検討するとともに,「最小構成の簡易なテレイグジスタンス環境」の要件について議論する.
